  Shark Cage Diving

  Outeniqua has the most accessible white sharks due to its seal population and is accessible by boat. The area that the cage diving takes place is a bay is protected so sea conditions are normally calm Once sharks are at the boat, your cage will go into the water and the diving will begin. Topside viewing is exciting for the non-diver and as the shark works very close to the surface, you will have plenty of opportunity to take some action shots and those in the water will have a front row seat!.



Slow Festival 2013

The Slow Festival is held over Easter every year and is unique in many ways. Only one of its kind in Africa, it's a festival celebrating the real things in life: Wholesome Goodness, Family, Friends, Fun, the Outdoors and Great Food.

  Fishing

  The entire Outeniqua coast line is one of the most productive areas for both fresh and saltwater angling. With a permit one can catch from the beach, or the rocks that protect the bays and cliffs or from the Pier at Victoria bay or the rivers and estuaries in the wilderness area. Unfortunately the best areas are usually the most inaccessible and one needs to get off the beaten track. You will, however, be rewarded with the adventure of visiting exciting new places and the possibility of that “Big One” that did not get away!

  Hiking

  The Outeniqua Mountains, which divide the upper arid Karoo from the Coastal plateau provide formal and informal trails that can start in Herold & Waarboomskraaal the Wine and Hops farming area’s or provide a challenging climb from the outskirts of George up gorges and historic wagon trails. The area falls within a region of vegetation known as the Cape Wildflower Floral Kingdom with fynbos and rare afromontane forest. Many travellers visit the area to view the wildflowers that are in bloom from autumn (March) to spring (November).

  Historic Railways and Museum

  The Outeniqua Transport Museum, houses a large collection of steam locomotives and carriages dating back to the bygone years and the storage of the Choo-Choo pending the line to Wilderness reinstatement. The Museum offers hours of exploration -intrigue and experience for both dedicated rail enthusiast and families with children.

  Horse Riding

  “The sport of Kings” in the Outeniqua area is well supported in that George has its own riding club where almost monthly championship events are held in glorious surroundings and riders of all ages learn to master the equestrian sport.There are also specialized riding and event training and stabling facilities in the geelhoutboom area.
